Yeah, we know it’s not the NFL, but this is about as bone-headed a play as you’ll ever see on the football field, so we had to share.
From opening night of the college football season, watch Kent State linebacker Andre Parker alertly scoop up a muffed punt, and return it 58-yards … in the wrong direction:
Almost as awesome is that two players from the opposing punt return team instinctively tracked Parker down to tackle him. Apparently the kids still have a little rust to shake off this early in the year.
Fortunately for Parker, by rule, a muffed punt can’t be advanced (or retreated), so the ball was spotted where he recovered it at the 7-yard-line. So while it didn’t end up costing his team, Parker will now live on in football infamy with “wrong-way” Jim Marshall.
